Louisville Metro’s Historic Preservation Officer Joanne Weeter is retiring from the Historic Landmarks and Preservation Districts Commission at the end of the month.

Laura Armstrong, Kelly Cranston and Julia Lee won Louisville’s Third Congressional District section of the national Congressional Art Contest. The ceremony was held in Washington, D.C., on June 28.

The Speed Art Museum, at 2035 S. Third St. (634-2700), has a new, free public database. The Kentucky Online Arts Resource documents the decorative arts, fine arts, folk arts and design of Kentucky (www.koar.org). Cynthia Moreno, the Speed’s curator of education, has been elected to the American Association of Museum’s National Committee on Education. The work of two contemporary Mexican artists, Sofia Taboas and Miguel Calderon, is now on display in the museum’s sculpture court.
