New additions to dining scene
A few new restaurants have popped up around town recently — if you haven’t checked them out yet, here’s the info: Proof on Main restaurant, which opened March 1 at 702 W. Main St., will feature Executive Chef Michael Paly’s Tuscan-influenced American cuisine along with an art gallery and interior design by Deborah Berke and Partners Architects that takes a historical focus. Sweet Peas Southern restaurant is also now open at 2350 Frankfort Ave. It will specialize in comfort food “with a fresh approach,” according to a press release. Menu items include fried chicken, hot brown and country ham. And finally, Jenicca’s Café and Wine Bar at 636 E. Market St. opened last week and even has a wine-tasting under its belt. Blackstone wine dinner at BLU
BLU Italian Mediterranean Grille will host a wine dinner featuring Dennis Hill, vintner for Blackstone Winery in California. The dinner will include five courses, featuring Blackstone wines chosen specifically for each respective course. The dinner, which is Friday, March 24, will begin with a reception at 6:30 p.m. The first course will be served at 7. Tickets are $65. For reservations or more info, call 671-4285. —KG

Chili Peppers 101
The Kentucky Chapter of The American Institute of Wine & Food and Chef Anthony Lamas will present a class called Chili Peppers 101 on Tuesday, March 28, at Seviche, 1538 Bardstown Road. Lamas will discuss different types of chili peppers and their diversities. Afterward, he will create four chili pepper-packed tapas. Cost is $45 for institute members, $55 for non-members.
