The Bar Belle

Crazy ’bout corn holeThe other night my friends and I stumbled upon the Frankfort Avenue Beer Depot, which was one of those places we kinda forgot existed. Even though I’ve walked right by it on the way to Patrick’s, the thought never occurred to stop in. Definitely my bad. Not only do they have a cool set-up, with an open-air bar area and several tables outside, and tons of things to do while you drink, including a full put-put golf course out back and corn hole out front, but a bottle of domestic beer is only $2 — on a Friday night! Oh, and did I mention the amount of male eye-candy at the Depot? Ladies, forget the loud dance clubs — dress down, grab a beer, smile … and remember I got dibs. The corn hole kept us occupied for hours. We threw the red and blue beanbags back and forth and tossed back beers. I happily gave up my spot when one of my bags almost hit the owner. My friends, however, kept playing till the end, winning just about every game against curious challengers.Pub crawl a success …I thinkNearly 40 yellow-T-shirt-clad folks stormed the Highlands last Saturday night for the third annual No Cover Walk. Although attendance was down from last year, we convinced many onlookers who were leisurely browsing at the Original Highlands Fest on Baxter to join our cause … or at least buy a T-shirt. All 12 bars on the course (Outlook Inn, Flanagan’s, Molly Malone’s, Willy’s, O’Shea’s, Wick’s, Cahoots, BW3’s, Akiko’s, Highlands Tap Room, Back Door and Bearno’s) were extremely understanding and accommodating to our sometimes rowdy group. It was definitely worth the two-day hangover.Wanna buy me a drink? Write shavens@leoweekly.com
