MONDAY

Screening of “Sleaford Mods: Invisible England” Seidenfaden’s Cafe Free; 9:30 p.m. Seidenfaden’s Cafe is known for hosting music-themed movie nights, but this screening is a little different. “Sleaford Mods: Invisible England” is a feature documentary about a British band on tour (hence the music theme), but what’s interesting is that the tour happens during the 2015 British General Election. And the focus is less on the band than it is on the “individuals and communities attempting to find hope among the ruins.”

Dead Room Cult, Drool and more! Modern Cult Records $5; 8 p.m. Spend your Monday at Modern Cult Records with live musical performances by the “groovy, funky and strange” rock ‘n’ roll band, Dead Room Cult, the Chicago-based contemporary rock band, Drool, and the Louisville-based rock band, Shark Sandwich.

The Fromps, Tangled Headphones and more! Cure Lounge $5; 9 p.m. Cure your Monday blues at Cure Lounge with a live show featuring the beach punk, or “Dolphincore” band, The Fromps, psychedelic garage-rock band, Tangled Headphones, indie-rock band, Leonov and the rock band, Salem Nobel.

TUESDAY

Defining Five Haymarket Whiskey Bar Free; 6 p.m. Once a month, five musicians from Louisville gather for happy hour at Haymarket Whiskey Bar, and they play five songs apiece that have influenced them and their music. Afterward, LEO publishes the lists of songs and interviews with all of the guest DJs about their song choices. Check out our coverage the last defining five here.

WEDNESDAY

WFPK Waterfront Wednesday Waterfront Park (Big Four Lawn) Free; 5 p.m. While you’re out catching Pokémon on the riverfront, stop by the Big Four Lawn for a night of free, outdoor music (thanks to the best public radio station in all the land, WFPK) with the California singer/songwriter Brett Dennen, indie pop band, Lucius and indie folk quartet, Kaleo.

Riley Aaron & Stowaway New Vintage Free; 9 p.m. Instrumental maestros and rap duo, Riley Aaron & Stowaway, are playing this week at New Vintage. If you are looking for instrumentals to kick back and relax to, or some hip-hop that takes you off the beaten path, this is what you need.

Anime Movie Night Kaiju Free; 8 p.m. Everyone’s favorite giant monster-themed bar, Kaiju, is hosting another Anime Movie Night. There will be free popcorn (as long as supplies last) and screenings of “The Boy and The Beast” at 8 p.m. and “Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade” at 10 p.m. And, for the die-hard anime fans, there will be a anime discussion group at 7 p.m.

THURSDAY

Kites and Classical Waterfront Park (Great Lawn) Free; 6 p.m. Louisville’s own public radio station dedicated to classical music, 90.5 WUOL, is hosting a night of classical music and kite flying on the waterfront. There will be kite-making stations, food and drink vendors and plenty of relaxing tunes to enjoy as the sunsets over the Ohio.

Writers’ Lodge Open Mic with Eliot Zellers Kaiju Free; 9 p.m. Writer’s Lodge Open Mic is a chance for local writers of all kinds to get on stage and read up to 10 minutes of their work in front of other writers for feedback, or just for fun. This month’s featured writer is poet Eliot Zellers.

FRIDAY

Screening of “Vertigo (1958)” The Louisville Palace $5 in advance; 8 p.m. Let’s be honest, we all know Alfred Hitchcock is a great director, but as a youngish person, I’ve probably seen only one or two of his films. Thankfully, Louisville Palace is hoping to remedy that by screening some of this best films in its beautiful theater. So put the Pokemon Go down, and go culture yourself.

Friday FLXX New Vintage $5; 10 p.m. Dance the weekday woes away at New Vintage this weekend with live hip-hop music by BRXTN, Blink, Nov Porter, Xavi the Artist, ARJR, QBROOMZ, La Espada and DJ JohnQ.

Louisville Tom Waits Tribute The Highlands Tap Room Grill Free; 6 p.m. Tom Waits, whose voice sounds like cigarette ash and gravel in a broken blender, is getting a tribute this weekend at Highlands Taproom with more than 25 artists. There will be live music, live art, live poetry, plenty of booths and food and drink. For someone as iconic as Tom Waits, no one person could do him justice, but maybe as an entire city we can come close.

Psychic Skin, Rob Collier and more! Dreamland Free; 9 p.m. Psychic Skin created their latest album, Fields, with “ therapeutic intentions — the aim to induce calm, ease of mind in the listener.” And in this chaotic time, who couldn’t use some of that. There will also be live music by Louisville-based composer, Rob Collier, and some quiet folk by solo artist, Big Prey.

Bourbon Bent BBQ Kaiju Free; 10 p.m. Good news for everyone planning to go drinking in Germantown this week (particularly Kaiju): The delicious food truck, Bourbon Bent BBQ, will be stopping by around 10 p.m. to provide everyone with some much need grub so you can keep the party going.

New works by Arzelie Berouard Evolving Gallery Free; 5 p.m. Artist Arzelie Berouard’s latest work is themed around the “Beauty of Creation” and focuses on “The life of the colors, representing joy, happiness and beauty, which led to planets, the Universe, abstracts.” She will present her work this week at Evolving Gallery (the little white shotgun house to the left of Mom’s Music). And, hopefully, her work will do what she created it to do —  “illuminate people’s lives.”
