Laura Lee Brown and Steve Wilson have commissioned Shayne Hull to paint 100 portraits for their restaurant Proof on Main, part of the newly opened 21C Museum Hotel at 700 W. Main St. He’s got a few finished, including Mayor Jer, Ed Hamilton and LEO’s own John Yarmuth.

Congratulations to ceramicist Wayne Ferguson for receiving the 2006 Rude Osolnik Award from the Kentucky Craft Marketing Program/Kentucky Arts Council.
The Arts Council of Southern Indiana is seeking nominations for “Artist of the Year” and “Arts Educator of the Year.” Nominees may be involved in any area of the arts and should work or live in Southern Indiana. The deadline is April 20. For guidelines and forms, call (812) 949-4238.

Recipients of the recent Governor’s Awards in the Arts received ceramic vessels created by Laura Ross.

First Lady Laura Bush named Portland a “Preserve America Neighborhood” on March 9. Portland Museum Director Nathalie Andrews and Joanne Weeter of Louisville Metro Historic Preservation received the award.

Ed Hamilton will sign his book, “The Birth of an Artist,” at the Louisville Free Public Library’s Western branch, at 604 S. 10th St., on April 15 from 1-3 p.m.
